About Doing it Ourselves
I'm Jason Levine, and I started Doing it Ourselves in May of 2006, just after my wife and I bought our first house. Having lived in rental properties for most of my adult life, I started to get excited about the things that homeowning would allow me to do (and might allow me to break!), and figured that it was as good an opportunity as any to share my DIY experiences with others. I've always been pretty anal about taking pictures of the various states of projects I work on; this will give me the opportunity to document my work a bit, and give accolades and warnings along the way.
While homeowning is the inspiration for Doing it Ourselves, I don't intend to limit my writing to DIY projects related to the house. I'll likely share my experiences related to things like home networking, electronics, and who knows what else... anything that seems like it'd fit with the whole DIY mindset. I'm also happy to take recommendations from readers who feel like they might know a better way to approach problems I talk about, and I obviously welcome any chance to test, experiment with, or review products on this site that manufacturers feel would be worthy of my time! (Drop me a line to discuss details.)
